In order to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect in India by the Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, in the year 1930, 28th February is celebrated as National Science Day every year. The theme of this year was “Science for the People and the People for Science”. To commemorate this day, a special Assembly was conducted at Presidium Hisar. The main objective of celebrating this day is to help in creating science awareness in students and to promote active involvement of both students and teachers in science related activities and to enable students to know about the latest developments in the fields of science and technology. Along with National Science Day, the leaders of tomorrow also celebrated the auspicious festival of Maha Shivaratri. It is one of the most important festivals of Hindus.  It is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. They enthusiastically participated and recited poems related to science. It was followed by speech presentation and GK quiz. Principal of the school, Ms. Ragni Mansukhani applauded  the staff and students for their efforts to make everyone spiritually and scientifically energized and enlightened.

‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’

The month of February marks two important events, ‘World Social Justice Day’ and ‘International Mother Language Day’. To mark these two important events, a special assembly was organised by the students of Grade 5, to educate about the importance of social justice in one’s life and to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism. Students presented a speech underlying the principles of observing ‘World Social Justice Day’ i.e. peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among nations followed by telling a story on history of observing ‘International Mother Language Day’. To reinforce and assimilate the knowledge gained, an open quiz was conducted which made the environment very lively and interesting. 

 ‘Grandparents are the footsteps to future generations.’

 

Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers and the keepers of traditions. To honour them and to create a spirit of togetherness, Presidium,

Hisar recently celebrated Grandparents Day.  The occasion was graced by Mr. Satya Narayan, Mr. Julian Egbert and our dear grandparents. It was an incredible moment for the Grandparents to witness the synchronization of talent and tradition of their grandchildren with the presentation of folklore by the

students. Music and enthusiastic grandparent-grandchild combinations made this event runaway hit with all those present. Many exciting games like ‘Saree/Turban Draping’, ‘Little Hearts’, ‘Jaanae Tu Ya Jaanae Na’ and many more along with some interesting activities, were organized for the Grandparents wherein they actively participated and showed their hidden talents and received various gifts and prizes. The grand spectacle came to a close with sharing by Grandparents on how special and happy they felt and were made to feel.

When we try to translate the vitality of our life energy into fluid moves, we dance. Dance competitions are a great way to build emotional resilience in a child. We, at Presidium Hisar organized a Dance Competition to showcase the talent of our students from grade 1 to 3. The competition started with great zeal and enthusiasm. The themes were Patriotism, Western and Indian Folk Dances. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances. Young Presidians were thrilled to be a part of colourful, vibrant and energizing event. They made use of interesting props like hats, chairs and sticks to enthral the audience. The participants expressed their dancing talent, which was coupled by appropriate costume and good choreography.

To highlight the importance of English language in today’s world, Presidium Hisar recently celebrated ‘English Week’. The idea behind the event was to hone the Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills of the students using progressive methodology. The first day of the week began with a special assembly with an invocation to the almighty, followed by welcoming of the special guest- Professor Umesh Arya who is currently teaching in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar and has published a book on Newspaper vocabulary. He motivated the students to converse in English and he emphasised that they should speak small sentences and grammatically correct sentences. Later, activities like picture caption, slogan writing and spellathon were conducted. The week was filled with activities like crossword puzzle, role play, tongue twisters, English songs and just a minute. The week culminated with a special assembly and prize distribution. Principal, Ms. Ragni gave a strong message to all students that we at Presidium work towards nurturing strong innovative and intellectual beings projecting themselves as poised and bold harvests ready to take the world. She stated that the reason we come up with such activities is not just to make the youngsters fluent in a language but to give them a buoyant and positive outlook about life and develop confidence and innovative skills.

Martyrs Day was recently observed in Presidium Hisar, on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi- The Father of the Nation. The day is observed in the memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s Freedom. Martyrs Day is also a day to salute the martyrdom of soldiers who lost their lives defending the sovereignty of the nation. To mark the occasion of Martyrs Day, a special assembly was conducted by the students of grade 9. Assembly started by reciting the famous prayer ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ of Gandhiji. The students spoke about the significance of the day. They explained, with

mention of the facets of the teachings of Gandhiji, in essence they introduced the audience to what ‘Bapu’ stood for. The assembly concluded with the School Song. 

Presidium School Winter Carnival, was held on January 26, 2019, in the school premises, with the spirit of pride and patriotism of 70th Republic Day. The event began with the hoisting of the tricolor, the pride of Nation by Mrs. & Mr. Satya Narayan Garg and Mrs. & Mr. Prem Prakash Gupta. There was dance, music, mouth-watering dishes, rides, games, exciting prizes, and much more. The air was just magical and enjoyment was at its peak. The carnival is held every year with great enthusiasm and a lot of fun and frolic. The school ground pulsated with scintillating music and a lively crowd. The carnival had everything right from food to entertainment, rides to games and merchandise including tambola, Colouring Competition, Baby Show, Dance Competition, live orchestra and lip smacking food stalls. Carnival stage was kept alive with some enthralling performances by the Presidians. The stalls were indeed a crowd puller. The zest and zeal exhibited by enthusiastic crowd of visitors and participants made the Winter Carnival 2019 a memorable one indeed.

To motivate students to take keen interest in enriching their vocabulary and pronunciation skills and to become effective and impressive communicators, Presidium Hisar l organized an Intraclass Spellathon Competition for the students of grades Nursery and Prep. Featuring multiple rounds like – Spell Them Right, Who Am I and Let us arrange, it was a fun filled competition. The participants took part in the competition enthusiastically. They got an exposure to a world of new words and won accolades for their brilliant performances.

The 70th Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at Presidium Hisar. A special  assembly was conducted by the students who made an effort to sensitize the audience on how we can honour the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and how we should be careful to take the legacy forward. The spectacular performances depicted the feeling of patriotism and belongingness towards our Mother India. The spirit of the students compelled everyone to introspect and ponder over their actions for transforming the nation into a powerful one. Ms. Ragni Mansukhani, Principal of the school extended her greetings to the students and urged them to bring a positive change for a better India.
