The month of July marks an important event, ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ which is celebrated on 26th July each year. The special assembly was organized by the students of Grade 8 to instil a sense of respect among students for our forces that safeguard the country from internal and external exigencies. The assembly started with the Morning Prayer followed by the news headlines and Thought for the Day. A speech on the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ was delivered by the students. They participated wholeheartedly by reminding all about the sacrifices done by Indian Armed Forces through a skit to ensure that we sleep in peace in our homes.

GK QUIZ COMPETITION: LET’S BEGIN THE MIND WARS!

‘Knowledge is power. General Knowledge prepares foundation for the career.’ To enlighten the students and to inculcate a sense of awareness about latest happenings, an Intra-Class General Knowledge Quiz Competition was organized for grades 4 and 5. A preliminary round was conducted which comprised general knowledge questions to test the child’s abilities. Top nine Best Performers further qualified for the final round. The three teams namely Daisy, Poppy and Jasmine contested for the final round which was conducted in an interactive way and the teams participated with great enthusiasm. Through interesting as well as challenging rounds, the knowledge of the participating students was put to test in this quiz. The participants as well
as the audience thoroughly enjoyed these rounds that tested their proficiency. The Quiz was very informative and enriching. The students displayed ecstatic spirit and enjoyed the quiz to the fullest. The winning team was awarded by the Principal Ms. Ragni Mansukhani with merit certificates.

NELSON MANDELA DAY: PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE LAUREATE

The month of July marks an important event, ‘International Nelson Mandela Day’ which is celebrated on 18th July every year. To commemorate the inspirational Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nelson Mandela and to celebrate the ‘International Nelson Mandela Day’, a special assembly was organized by the students of Grade 6. The assembly started with the Morning Prayer followed by the news headlines and a beautiful thought quoted by Nelson Mandela. A speech on International Nelson Mandela Day was delivered by the students. A role play was performed by a student on Nelson Mandela stating his Inauguration Speech which mesmerized everyone. To reinforce and assimilate the knowledge gained, an open quiz was conducted which made the environment very lively and interesting. The assembly was addressed by our Principal Ms. Ragni Mansukhani. She emphasized and motivated the students to become more responsible. Students were also sensitized about the need to be patient, courageous and more tolerant.

COLOURING COMPETITION: LET’S PLAY WITH SOME COLOURS!

‘We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box.’ To spread the brightness of colours, a Colouring Competition was conducted for grades Nursery and Prep. Each child got different colouring worksheets in which they displayed their colouring skills. The little ones enjoyed this colouring activity where they were able to use their imagination and showcase their colouring skills, could make choice of colours and exhibit their creativity. It was a pleasure to watch these tiny tots working with such ease with colours and crafting new ideas. Overall it was an enjoyable and an endearing day for them.

CELEBRATING THE ‘GURU-SHISHYA’ BOND ON GURU PURNIMA

Guru Purnima takes us to the ancient era, where gurus were considered equivalent to God. In keeping with the tradition of revering gurus for their invaluable contribution in shaping the minds and characters of the young people, the quintessence and the significance of the day was illustrated through a special assembly by the students of Grade 5 who seized this opportunity to pay their reverence and show gratitude to the teachers. The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer followed by the news headlines and thought for the day which laid importance of paying respect to our gurus. A speech on the ‘Guru Purnima’ was delivered by the students. They participated wholeheartedly by making the audience aware about the significance of this day through a skit where their thoughts echoed the age old adage of paying respect to our gurus and that the guru is esteemed just next to God.

Grade 7 to raise awareness about the importance of youth skills development and contribute

A speech on the importance of ‘World Youth Skills Day’ was delivered by the students. Then, a GK quiz based on theme was also conducted to encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge & establish a relationship between theory & application of the learnt concepts.They participated wholeheartedly to encourage youth to celebrate the value of acquiring skills to achieve success in their life.

POOL PARTY: PRESIDIANS ENJOY A BASH WITH FUN WATER SPLASH!

One can’t have more fun than playing with water on a hot day in a splash Pool! The splash pool of Presidium Hisar is a great place to lounge in and escape the heat. Water play activities strengthens motor skills, builds balance and the ability to propel and navigate. With all this in mind, the Pre-primary department of our school held a pool party for the students. The poolside was beautifully decorated with balloons, balls. The children were handed water balloons to play with. Tables were arranged with colourful umbrellas to add ambience to the party. The tiny tots turned up in colourful swim suits. It was not long before the wary faces filled with frolic! Refreshing drinks to sip in the cool pool and music to make the mood, were relished by all. At the end of the session, the kids were beaming and wanted more time in the pool so that they could continue their fun time.

WELCOME BACK PRESIDIANS AFTER A LONG SUMMER BREAK!

Presidium, Hisar reopened with a special assembly conducted by the students of grade 5. It was lovely to see all the children arrive at school this morning after the summer holidays. The teachers welcomed the students on coming back to school through a song “Welcome back to School”. An activity ‘Sharing Holidays Experience’ was conducted during the assembly. The students were seen keen and joyous to join their classes to meet their friends and teachers. Our Principal, Ms.Ragni Mansukhani welcomed the students who had joined the school with recharged and positive energy and she wished them good luck and motivated them for another incredible and productive school year.

AN EVENTFUL TEACHERS’ TRAINING BROADEN THE HORIZONS OF TEACHERS

The holistic development of children of any nation is in the hands of teachers. School education
has a symbiotic relationship with teacher education as teachers are the frontline providers of
quality education. Thus, teacher training workshops were recently organized under the aegis of the School Principal, Ms. Ragni Mansukhani, as an initiative to play a role in the capacity development of teachers. A “Learning through Theatre” was facilitated by our Principal, Ms. Ragni Mansukhani wherein theatre was used as an effective teaching-learning tool. It helped teachers to imbibe critical thinking in real-life situations. Another workshop was facilitated by Ms. Shruti Mehta, Academic Head, on “Learning indicators and Learning outcomes” at elementary stage. Teachers were briefed about the learning outcomes and indicators and through group tasks and were engaged in outlining the learning outcomes of the different topics that they teach. Technology is an integral part of teaching these days and Ms. Swati Chawla, ICT teacher, conducted a training to enable teachers to be sufficiently prepared, confident and competent in making full use of the benefits of technology in their classrooms which would further help in development of students. A workshop on Art and Craft was also organized by Ms. Smita Prajapati, Art and Craft teacher, for guidance in preparing the teaching aids of different teaching subjects. The workshops worked as a therapy for all and the teachers were reenergized and excited to unleash the new learning in their classrooms.

Summer camp is important because it offers a structured opportunity for children to grow. Kids come from home to school for extra curriculars, with each activity contributing to their development. It is another unique venue for growth, allowing kids to become independent and self-confident, while socializing and making friends, and even learning new skills. Presidians are having a wonderful time in the Summer Camp. They are enjoying fun filled activities and most importantly, they are learning things which are useful in everyday life. A host of activities have been planned like Personality development classes, Spoken English classes, Theatre, Music, Dance and Games like Swimming, Skating, Taekwondo, Cricket, Badminton, Basketball, Football etc. to keep children engaged during the summer vacations and to hone their skills.
