To raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease, the grade 8 students of Presidium Hisar conducted a special assembly on World AIDS Day. The teachers were given red ribbons (symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV AIDS) prepared by the students. Several activities were conducted to create awareness about AIDS. Students also performed a small skit, in which they gave the detail of history, causes and some prevention techniques for AIDS and also shared the myths that people have regarding this disease. The leaders of tomorrow ended the assembly with a very positive note by saying that “as a responsible citizen of our nation, we, the Presidians, take pledge that we would stand against this disease instead of standing against the people suffering from this disease.”

To explore new horizons and push scientific frontiers further, it is vital that the youth must develop a passion for science. It is with this aim that Presidium Hisar recently organized a three-day long Science Exhibition with the theme Imagine-Invent-Inspire. With an endeavour to promote scientific attitude among budding scientists, the event saw young and enthusiastic participants from grades 4 to 9 putting up various projects comprising of low-cost innovative working models, display models and charts. The projects were indeed eye openers on various topics related to green energy, agriculture, technology, bio-diversity, community health and environment. A special assembly was conducted on the last day of the exhibition, enlightening the budding minds with importance of science.

Good vocabulary plays a very important role in the overall development of children and that is why the habit of learning new words should be developed from an early age. To motivate our students of grades 1 to 5 to take keen interest in enriching their vocabulary and honing their pronunciation skills, an Inter-Class and Inter-Club Spellathon Competition was organized at Presidium, Hisar. Every participant was asked to spell words taken from their English Curriculum book. Top scorers from each club represented their club in the final round, which featured activities like hunting the missing letters, complete the word, word hunt and the correct word from the given jumbled letters. The competition was really a good learning experience for the students!

To give our grade 4 Presidians of Hisar an opportunity to build various skills like observing, collecting data, conducting interviews and experiencing real life situations, a visit to CCS Haryana Agricultural University was recently organized. The visit was scheduled under the subject PBL, through which, the students were able to understand various concepts related not only to farming but to the lifestyle and struggles of farmers. The inquisitive youngsters raised their queries to the resource person. They were very thrilled to see different tools and machines used in farming and also, learnt about the benefits of organic farming over inorganic farming. The visit proved to be a fun-filled activity loaded with hands on experience to remember!

Winners don’t wait for the chances, they just take them!

Keeping alive the traditions of excellence and awarding the achievers for their continuing saga of glorious achievements, Presidium Hisar recently organized its Annual Sports Prize Distribution Ceremony. The event was graced by the Director of Presidium Hisar - Ms. Neerja Chawla and various other dignitaries, who commenced the programme with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. Honouring the best athletes with trophies, certificates and medals, the chief guest applauded the efforts of the prize winners and encouraged them to be better. The extravaganza came to an with the thought that it’s not the team with the best players that wins, it’s the players with the best team, who win.

To boost the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy living in our young students, the much-awaited Annual Sports Day was recently organized at Presidium, Hisar. Witnessing a fantastic turnout from the parents and a pleasant weather, the day started with taking of the oath and an impressive March Past. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students of grades pre nursery to 9 competed class-wise and club wise in events including races like Presidian Swag, Pick the Colour, Get Ready for School and Sprints. The most-intriguing aspect, embellishing the event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation, which splattered on the field a riot of hues and vibrancy.

To pay a loving tribute to Chacha Nehru, Presidium Hisar conducted a special assembly, wherein several fun-filled activities were organized for our little children. Remembering the significance of Pandit Nehru’s contribution in nation’s freedom struggle and his deep affection towards children, the assembly showcased a beautiful dance performance by the students of grade 3 on the tunes of ‘bum bum bole’. To add a moment of entertainment, the faculty came dressed up as ‘children’ and presented a small comic act, which sprinkled hearty smiles on the innocent eyes of our Presidians. The assembly was dispersed on a cheerful note, as, after all, it was an assembly held to celebrate childhood!

General Knowledge spans way beyond knowing the answers to trivia and quizzes!

Being up-to- date on general knowledge in current affairs and different domains makes you a better person. Keeping this in mind, Presidium Hisar recently organized an Inter-Class G.K. Quiz competition for students of grades 6 to 9. There were different rounds, which included an array of questions from different disciplines including General Knowledge, General Science, Identify the Logo, Logical Reasoning and Entertainment. Students displayed their intellectual skills and posed a stiff competition for their rivals. The winners answered the questions with dexterity and sailed their team towards victory. This informative and knowledge enriching competition went on neck to neck and the Presidians loved every bit of it.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was strongly against all artificially created divisions and all discrimination, both in word and deed. His idea of a caste-free society also transpired in his concepts of Sangat and Pangat. To reinstate presence of Guru Nanak Dev ji, a special assembly was put up by the students of grade 6, which started with a morning prayer followed by a wonderful thought. The students enlightened the gathering about the significance of Gurpurab and various rituals associated with this festival. A pious atmosphere was created by the shabad 'Ek Onkaar Satnaam' sung by the Presidians. The message that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are of great significance to mankind and can help in transforming our society, was beautifully brought forth.

“Nature is the best healer!”

To create awareness amongst the students towards the age-old system of medicine, Ayurveda, a special assembly was recently organized on the occasion of National Ayurveda Day at Presidium, Hisar. The students were enlightened about the fact that a country cannot progress unless it knows its history, heritage, culture, glorious traditions and if it doesn’t take pride in them. The benefits of Ayurveda in our daily life was beautifully and melodiously presented in the form of soulful dohas recited by the students. Reinforcing the knowledge about Ayurveda through quotes, speeches and GK quiz, the assembly filled the ambience with the feeling of ‘back to basics’ and ‘back to nature’.
