‘Literacy is the road to human progress’. Literacy is the prime requisite for learning and plays a vital role in the development of a country. To elaborate the same, a special assembly on International Literacy day was conducted in Presidium Hisar by the students of grade 3. Students presented a beautiful speech and expressed their thoughts on literacy. The aim was to highlight the importance of literacy amongst individuals, communities and societies. It was a great learning for the audience. A play was also organized depicting the importance of reading and writing. The day concluded with a pledge taken by all to lend a ‘Reading’ hand on this Literacy Day and spread education all around.

World Suicide Prevention Day is about our global community to encourage us to engage with each other and to join hands to spread awareness about suicide prevention. The students of grade 3 marked this day by involving all the students in the awareness campaign by organizing a special assembly and highlighting this year’s theme ‘Working Together to Prevent Suicide’. The class actively participated in spreading awareness and believed that the future generation has the ability to sensitize by presenting a wonderful skit where they showed various reasons because of which people tend to commit suicide and also showcased the ways to prevent such situations by working together with positive thoughts, understanding others problems and also by helping each other. The assembly ended on a positive note where the Vice Principal encouraged students to discuss and face problems bravely.

प्रेसिडियम विद्यामय के प्रांगण में विशेष प्रातः कालीन सभा में हिंदी दिवस धूम धाम से मनाया गया. इसका आयोजन कक्षा पहली के विद्यार्थियों द्वारा किया गया. सभा का शुभारम्भ सुविचार के साथ किया गया. इसके बाद विद्यार्थियों द्वारा समाचार, भाषण, कविता डी प्रश्नोत्तरी के माध्यम से हिंदी के महत्त्व यार प्रकाश डाला गया. नन्हे बच्चों ने मंच पर हिंदी के महान कवियों का किरदार निभाकर सब का मन मोह लिया. अंत में उपप्रधानाचार्य श्रीमती शालिनी चौधरी ने शानदार सभा आयोजित करने के लिए सबको बधाई दी. उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों से कहा कि हमें हमारी मातृभाषा का सम्मान करना चाहिए. हमें हिंदी का प्रयोग गर्व के साथ करना चाहिए. उन्होंने सभा में उपस्थित सभी को हिंदी दिवस की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं दीं.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the important Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with a great devotion. A special assembly was organised by the students of grade 3 to marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Presidians spoke about the 10 days long festival and explained that Lord Ganesha is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. They also performed the ritual and ceremonies related to the celebration. They even showed wonderful dance on Ganesh Vandana. The assembly ended with a positive note where the Vice Principal shared the importance of celebrating festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi.

‘No garden truly blooms until butterflies have danced upon the flowers’. Students can learn new skills, have fun, play and develop their cognitive understanding by spending time with nature.  To give the students a hands on experience related to the theme ‘Insects’, they were taken on a visit to the school garden. It was amazing to see the students searching for different insects, observing them and asking questions related to the insects. They were excited to see different types of insects and were curious to know more about their food habits. This activity not only helped in imparting knowledge to children regarding different types of insects but also brought the young Presidians closer to nature.

‘Teachers are the only people who  lose sleep over other people’s children’. 

To honour and celebrate the most important profession of all, Presidium Hisar celebrated Teachers' Day to honour and thank teachers. The celebration started with a tribute to Dr. Sarvapelli Radhakrishnan through a special assembly organised by the students of grade 10. The students presented heart warming speeches, poems and gifted roses to the teachers. A cultural extravaganza with dance and music performances enthralled the teachers and other students. Presidians presented a ‘Vote of Thanks’ to the teachers conveying the message that teachers are the real holder of knowledge, enlightenment and prosperity. 

‘Festivals are characterized by colour, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals.’

 A special assembly was conducted with great zeal by the students of grade 8 on the occasion of Janmashtami, a festival which celebrates earthly arrival of Lord Krishna. The assembly commenced with a thought highlighting the importance of peace in life, followed by news headlines and a quiz based on the facts related to Janmashtami. Presidians also delivered a speech on the importance of ‘Krishna Ashtami’ and the traditional folk of our nation. To make the atmosphere livelier a wonderful performance choreographed on Lord Krishna was also presented. The assembly reached its climax with a strong message of togetherness and goodwill.

29th August is celebrated as the National Sports Day in memory of legendary Hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and it happens to be the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, who made India proud by his extraordinary sporting skills. To give tribute to such a great personality in the field of sports a special assembly was conducted by students of grade 8 of Presidium Hisar. The main objective of the assembly was to educate the students about the significance of National Sports Day. The assembly started with the thought for the day followed by a short speech, poem and skit. It was an enthralling moment for all, when the students showed their passion for games.

The Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan is a reflection of the sibling relationship, a relationship built with love, faith, support and a pledge to protect and be there for each other. Presidium Hisar celebrated this beautiful relationship by organizing a special assembly on Raksha Bandhan. The assembly started with the school prayer followed by Gayatri Mantra. Students of grade 1 displayed the beautiful feeling of care and love between brother and sister through special performances. A talk on Raksha bandhan was also conducted to educate the students about the meaning of the festival and the ritual of applying teeka and tying a rakhi as a token of love. This was followed by a dance performance which mesmerised everyone. 

The best way to check and ensure that knowledge is being delivered and the students properly understand the concepts is by conducting a quiz. Keeping this in mind an Intraclass Quiz competition was organized for grades 1 to 3 to test the sharpness and retention power of the students. The quiz was divided into four rounds and each round was equally innovative and captivating. The rounds were content and knowledge, audio, visual and rapid fire. The aim of the activity was to encourage and motivate the students to be aware of their surroundings and understand the world as a whole. All the participants were enthusiastic and it was great to witness a neck to neck competition among them.
