We all wear clothes and we use a different fabric for all sorts of purposes, but does anyone know where the fabric comes from? How is it made? To provide answers to the inquisitive minds of Grade 4 Presidians, an activity was conducted to learn about the process of making fabric and examine different types of fabric and their characteristics. The students were asked to collect different samples of fabrics and by comparing the qualities of different fabrics they came to understand why so many different types of fabric exist and were able to recognize and suggest different uses for them. This activity focused on the different characteristics of fabrics and showed students how natural and synthetic fabrics differ from one another. Students weighed the advantages and disadvantages of fabrics when considering the appropriate fabric to be used. The objective of this activity justified the creative method which was adopted for students to revise the chain of events that lead to the conversion of fiber to fabric and also helped them to learn to be creative while studying.
